Tips for fall crappie fishing in the Northeast

Often they will cruise in large schools over deep water following schools of baitfish; other times they will be found in or near cover, particularly cover on a breakline between shallow and deep water. In my experience, the best way to find crappie is slow trolling with two rods, each with a pair of jigs, with the rigs set at different depths. In a typical reservoir start trolling breaklines of 10 to 20-foot depths and try the mouths of coves. Constantly monitor the depth finder for schools of bait and/or crappie.
